The National High Commissioner for Elections announced today, Saturday, that the successive suspension instructions issued by the security services of the government in charge of the House of Representatives, headed by Osama Hammad, prevented the inclusion of 27 municipalities within the second group targeting the polling process, out of 63 municipalities in which local elections were supposed to be held.
In an official statement, the Commission confirmed that the polling process was launched today, to elect 26 municipal councils, after most of them completed the stages of the electoral process, according to the Commission Council Resolution 125 of 2025.
She pointed out that the repeated suspension instructions issued by the security services of the Libyan government prevented the commission from including 27 municipalities among the targeted municipalities on this day, which prompted the council to suspend the polling process according to Resolution No. (120) of 2025.
The Commission called on voters and voters to go towards the polls and express their choices freely and secretly, stressing that electoral laws and regulations guaranteed them to protect their voices from any external influence, no matter how misleading campaigns and rumors aimed at spreading negativity and resisting positivity in a country whose citizens are looking out to get out of the long transition.
