More than 100 international relief organizations indicated that Israel prevents the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip since last March, noting that the majority of the regions were unable to enter the basic materials, which led to the accumulation of shipments of food, medicine, water and emergency equipment worth millions of dollars in Jordan, Egypt and Ashdod port.
A new registration that causes controversy
The organizations have made it clear that the new procedures imposed since March require the presentation of lists of Palestinian employees to conduct security examinations. This policy was considered illegal, dangerous for workers, restricted to its independence, and designed to restrict humanitarian work.
Israeli response
For its part, the Israeli government’s coordination unit in the Palestinian territories (COGAT) denied these accusations, stressing that the aim of the registration mechanism is to ensure that aid will reach civilians and not to Hamas. She indicated in a statement to the international media that Israel is working to facilitate the entry of aid, while Hamas seeks to exploit it to enhance its military capabilities, sometimes with the knowledge of some organizations and sometimes without its knowledge.
Netanyahu’s statements
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, accused Hamas of stealing aid allocated to civilians in Gaza. He said in a post on the “X” platform that Israel had dropped an aid and called on other countries to join, noting that some countries have already participated. The office affirmed that the aid arrived after securing the airspace and landing operations, welcoming any country wishing to “real assistance.”
