In a qualitative step confirming the leadership of Bahrain in adopting sustainable institutional practices, the House of Representatives succeeded in obtaining the ISO 14001: 2015 certificate for environmental management systems, to become the first parliament in the Middle East and Asia to achieve this distinguished global accreditation.
According to officials in the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives, this success is not limited to being an international certificate, but rather a practical commitment to the continuous improvement path, by rationalizing energy and water consumption, reducing waste, enhancing digital transformation, and expanding green spaces, putting the Council at the site of regional leadership, and enhancing the confidence of international partners.
They indicated that this achievement comes as an embodiment of the royal royal aspirations, and in support of the government’s programs led by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, and in line with the carbon neutrality strategy announced by the Kingdom, in a way that establishes the position of the Council as a pioneering model in integrating environmental standards within the legislative and administrative work.
They emphasized that this achievement is the result of an integrated institutional cooperation between the General Secretariat, the Department of Services and Facilities, Quality Experts, and a number of national authorities concerned, which contributed to the development of advanced environmental policies, and the application of operational procedures compatible with international standards, leading to passing strict evaluation stages and achieving accreditation.
