A report issued by the World Economic Forum within the “Tourism and Travel Development Index 2024” showed that the Kingdom of Bahrain ranked fourth in the Arab world in the best infrastructure of land transport and ports, achieving an evaluation of 4.15 out of 7. This achievement confirms the growing position that Bahrain occupies on the map of infrastructure development in the Arab world, especially in the transportation, transportation and logistical services sectors.
This indicator is measured based on the quality of roads, ports and land transport networks in terms of efficiency, coverage, safety, and effectiveness, which makes it a reliable international reference to assess the readiness of countries in this vital aspect.
The report indicated that the United Arab Emirates topped the Arab countries with an average evaluation of 5.26, followed by Qatar with 4.46, then the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with 4.43, while Bahrain came in fourth place superior to many countries.
These results reflect the national efforts made by Bahrain in recent years to update and expand its infrastructure, through strategic projects aimed at linking cities and vital areas to a sophisticated road network, developing ports to be more able to absorb the growing growth in the movement of goods and services, where these plans play an important role in supporting the economic directions of the Kingdom, attracting investments, and providing a competitive environment for business.
The infrastructure of land transport and ports is one of the most prominent pillars of economic growth in any country, as it constitutes the main nerve on which the movement of internal and external trade depends, as it directly contributes to reducing the cost of transportation, improving the arrival time, and increasing the efficiency of logistics services, which reflects positively on the various productive and service sectors, foremost of which is tourism and industry.
In this context, the Kingdom of Bahrain is moving forward in implementing an ambitious vision that includes the development of vital road networks, improving the operational efficiency of seaports, and enhancing linking with regional and international logistical centers. This comes in parallel with the growth of the Kingdom’s growth in the movement of trade and investment exchange, and an increase in the number of international companies that take from Bahrain as a center for its operations in the Gulf region.
This new classification is an international certificate that enhances Bahrain’s position in global competitiveness reports, and supports its plans to build a sustainable economy based on advanced infrastructure that meets the aspirations of the future.
