Mr. Osama bin Saleh Al -Alawi, Minister of Social Development, Chairman of the National Committee for the Elderly, stressed that the care of the elderly is a major priority in the social policies adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain within its firm approach in continuing to promote the social protection system and establish social security for all groups of society.
This came during his presidency of the meeting of the National Committee for the first elderly for the year 2025, in the presence of members of the committee from representatives of government agencies and relevant civil society institutions.
He affirmed the committee’s keenness to continue to establish a sustainable system for care and empowerment services, based on institutional integration between the concerned authorities, and meet the aspirations of the elderly in a way that enhances their role and participation in society.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed a number of topics, including discussing the developments of the institutions of the care and accommodation of the elderly in the Kingdom, and ways to enhance the privileges and facilities provided to this group that respect and appreciate society, by expanding partnerships with official and private authorities.
The developments of work on developing the national strategy for the elderly and its executive plan were also reviewed in line with the priorities of the next stage, and ensures the effective response to the needs of the elderly.
