Al -Khayyat: Bahrain ends the planning of its regions completely … and 10% of the Kingdom’s area is ready for construction

The CEO of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, Ahmed Al -Khayyat, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain ended the planning of all its regions by 100% at the end of 2024, which constituted a pivotal achievement in the march of urban development.

And that land planning is a qualitative leap in the path of urban planning, pointing to pivotal achievements that included planning all regions and the end of a number of strategic projects, during a speech delivered on the sidelines of the authority’s celebration of its founding.

He explained that this historical achievement would strengthen the real estate movement in the Kingdom, and open the way for citizens and developers to benefit from the planned and classified lands, adding that 10% of the total area of Bahrain is now ready lands for reconstruction, after it was previously lacking classification and organizational requirements.

He stressed that the authority has completed the project of organizational requirements for construction, which is one of the most important initiatives aimed at organizing construction in the Kingdom in an integrated manner, and gives citizens and investors a clear vision about the mechanism of using and building lands.

Al -Khayyat pointed out the completion of the infrastructure project in division plans, indicating that this project will contribute to accelerating the pace of development, by providing ready -made housing vouchers for construction and supported by all infrastructure services, which allows the citizen to obtain the license and start construction without delay, in cooperation with the private sector.

He touched on the progress in the project of classifying urban designs, indicating that 90% of the work has been completed, and it is expected to be completely completed before the end of this year, so that each area is classified according to different uses.

He indicated that the most prominent strategic projects that the authority is working on is to update the strategic structural plan for the Kingdom of Bahrain 2050, explaining that the project is implemented in two phases, as the first phase that included review of national strategies such as housing, economics, industry, transportation, transportation and roads was completed.

He added that the second stage will be launched before the end of this year, and aims to prepare an integrated structural plan that will continue until 2027, to form a national road map that defines the uses of land and urban policies until 2050, under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Al -Khayyat noted that the areas that were known as the green belt, north and south, and which were outside the scope of planning, are now classified and prepared for development, which enables citizens to benefit from their lands and raise their market and urban value.

It highlights the digital platform launched by the authority since 2021, which provides most of the services of the authority completely electronically without the need for personal attendance, including requests for changing classification, integration and division of lands, and full electronic follow -up of planning transactions.

He concluded by emphasizing that all the services of the authority have become completely digital, which helped accelerate the procedures and facilitate the process of obtaining licenses and services, for citizens and developers alike, pointing to the integration of the electronic system with a number of other government agencies.
