Al -Mashat signed a memorandum of understanding with the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade in Vietnam to enhance economic development between the two countries

Dr. Rania Al -Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation in the field of economic development, with Van Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during the summit held by President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with his counterpart, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam by Long Kuong.

The Memorandum of Understanding comes in recognition of the importance of cooperation in the field of economic development as a driving force to enhance social and economic development in both countries, on the basis of economic development and joint commitment to sustainable development by the two sides, and a desire to enhance the bonds of good friendship and enhance cooperation between the two countries, and to create the appropriate conditions for achieving sustainable development, diversifying economic and international cooperation, and not to enhance bilateral cooperation in economic and commercial fields And investment.

Dr. Rania Al -Mashat stressed the importance of the joint committee between Egypt and Vietnam as a mechanism for cooperation in promoting economic development and international cooperation between the two countries, as the committee played, during the past five sessions, an important role in strengthening bilateral economic relations, and as a platform to enhance constructive dialogue between the governments of the two countries and the business community of both sides.

She explained that the memorandum of understanding that was signed opens the horizons in light of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, to enhance and deepen bilateral economic and commercial relations, and develop cooperation in a number of areas, including the digital economy, climate change and green development, renewable energy, the localization of industry, and logistical services, with the active participation of the private sector, which constitutes a promising platform for common initiatives.

In addition to agreeing to work in the areas of policy dialogue, exchanging knowledge, building capacity, and exchanging successful policies and practices in the areas agreed upon, which comes within the framework of strong cooperation relations between the two countries, and in light of the two parties’ interest in the importance of knowledge as the cornerstone that links the two countries, and within the framework of economic cooperation between the countries of the south.

During the visit, the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation held a meeting with the Vice Prime Minister of Vietnam, where the two sides discussed the mechanisms of implementing what was agreed upon by the leaderships of the two countries during their meeting in order to consolidate the joint economic relations, as well as the preparations of the sixth session of the Joint Committee.

It is worth noting that the Egyptian -Vietnamese relations date back to the sixties of the last century, and in 1997 an agreement was signed to form a joint ministerial committee between the two countries in which 5 courses were held so far, and Vietnam is one of the founding members of the Asian Bank for Investment in Infrastructure. During 2017, President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, visited Vietnam as the first visit of an Egyptian President of the Republic of Vietnam, and the visit witnessed the signing of many documents of joint cooperation.
