At a time when addiction tools are advancing with a technological interface, electronic hookah and electronic cigarettes (Al -Fayb) stand at the top of the list of healthy threats that crawl towards our children at a rapid and flavoring pace.
One of the deputies recently announced that the parliament will start discussing a draft law to prohibit the sale and circulation of Al -Feb in Bahrain. This legislative move is not new, but rather the result of the accumulation of health and social concerns after the high use of these products among young people.
Despite promoting the fibs as a “less harmful” alternative, medical studies reveal that these products contain nicotine and harmful chemicals that cause addiction, respiratory problems and heart, and negative effects on the developing brain.
But what is it possible to say, can we deny that facilitate obtaining attractive devices and flavors led to their spread among school students, and amid intensive promotion on social media ?? !!
More dangerous, that the continuation of this spread will constitute a future financial and national depletion, as chronic diseases are related to fibs that require long and expensive treatments, which weighs the health system and threatens national resources.
Although the issue is possible a discussion on individual freedom, the jurisprudence rule is “no harm or harm”, as the damage from the user extends to society and the state’s infrastructure.
Therefore, legislation, prevention and accountability efforts must be supported, while everyone is responsible for confronting this danger.
