During these days, fish markets in Bahrain are witnessing a remarkable increase in the prices of some types of fish, in light of the effects of hot weather and the variation of the supply quantities, especially after the ban on shrimp hunting in early August.
In a special statement to “Al -Watan”, the fish seller, Rashid Al -Rashed, stressed that the air temperature greatly affects the abundance of fish in the market, as “fish escape to the depths of the sea in search of cold”, which makes it difficult for the fishing process, and this is reflected directly on the prices. The prices of other fish vary depending on the type, the nature of fishing and the region. Al -Rashed pointed out that the net fish starts from one and a half dinars and reaches 4 dinars per kilogram, pointing out that hunting from bannings, yarn or “gurr” affects the quality of the fish, as it is stronger and more nutritious when it comes from a good marine environment.
As for the Bahraini Hammour, its price reached 6.5 dinars per kilogram, while the price decreases to 5.5 dinars for the large size that exceeds ten kilograms. The imported Hamour is available at a lower price.
Regarding the Bahraini Med Mid, it is currently sold at a price of 5.5 dinars, while the price of the gendarmerie reached between 3 and 3.5 dinars, and the poetry to 3 dinars and more, with expectations that prices will decrease at the end of September, due to the start of the “water of water” in that period.
Al -Rashed indicated that the Arab pigeon is sold at two dinars, while the price of Al -Kanad reached about 4.5 dinars.
These changes come a few days after lifting the ban on shrimp hunting in Bahrain, which started on August 1 after a six -month ban. The market is currently witnessing an increasing demand for the Bahraini shrimp known for its quality and flavor, despite the presence of imported alternatives at varying prices.
