Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al -Asiri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, participated in the symposium “Augmentation of Artificial Intelligence and Satial Data to respond to disasters and mitigate the risks” organized by the “Planet” company in partnership with the National Council for the states of geographical information. Participation came within the framework of Bahrain’s efforts to enhance the use of advanced space technologies to face environmental challenges and natural disasters.
The symposium focused on ways to employ the latest technical solutions in the field of disaster management, the most prominent of which is the integration of artificial intelligence with satellite data to analyze environmental changes and disaster monitoring such as floods, fires and earthquakes with high speed and accuracy. The symposium also dealt with ways to improve response operations through the use of daily satellite images and data derived from the analysis to accelerate the evaluation of ground resources efficiently. Participants have reviewed successful studies and experiences in using space techniques, such as assessing the damage of Hawaiian fires and floods, using basic maps and advanced monitoring data.
Dr. Muhammad Al -Asiri emphasized that “this symposium represents a vital platform for exchanging knowledge about radical transformations in disaster management. Today, space technology and artificial intelligence shorten time and improve the accuracy of decisions, which saves lives and protects infrastructure. Compassion for them and belief in the importance of participation in the international effort, the Kingdom of Bahrain continues its cooperation with international partners to build flexible systems facing climate challenges Fasting. “
Dr. Al -Asiri also pointed to Bahrain’s commitment to adopting innovative space technologies, including developing early warning systems that depend on the analysis of satellite images with artificial intelligence, and enhancing cooperation with prestigious institutions in the field to develop national capabilities and enhance innovation to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
