The people of the village of Kafr Abshish, which is affiliated with the Quesna Center in Menoufia Governorate, launched an urgent distance to the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, because of what they described as the “environmental catastrophe” that threatens their lives due to the deterioration of the conditions of the “Umm Ahmed” canal that passes through the village’s residential bloc.

The people explained that the canal turned into a source of garbage accumulation and waste, which led to the emission of unpleasant smells and the multiplication of insects, amid a complete ignorance of irrigation officials despite the submission of complaints over the past years.

The people demanded immediate intervention from the Ministry of Irrigation to purify the canal and remove waste, as well as support from the Menoufia Governorate agencies to protect the health of citizens and prevent diseases.
The families also appealed to the officials to go to the ground and inspect the size of the disaster in the field, stressing that the current situation is not appropriate for a human life and must be dealt with urgently.
