The process of separating the attached Syrian twins “Celine and Eileen” Abdel Moneim Al -Shibli, at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City, succeeded in the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
Dr. Abdullah Al -Rabiah, head of the medical and surgical team of the Saudi -adherent twins program, said in a press statement today, Sunday, that the family of the attached Syrian twins “Celine and Eileen” was a refugee in Lebanon, and their mother carried a twin of 3 embryos, including two adherent children, and a healthy child who is not attached, while their birth took place with a caesarean section in the Rafic Hariri Hospital in Beirut.
Al -Rabiah indicated that the twins are one year and 5 months old, and their weight combined (14) kilograms.
Dr. Al -Rabiah explained that this operation is the fourth to separate adherent twins from Syria, and No. (66) within the series of operations of the Saudi -adherent twins, which extends to more than (35) years, covered (27) countries, and studied (150) cases from different parts of the world.
It is noteworthy that the sovereign, or attached twins are twins generated with two parts partially or totally attached, and the reason is due to the lack of separation of the two fetuss in an early stage of pregnancy, usually between the 13th and 15th of pregnancy.
This process comes in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
