The Qatari team crowned the champion of the West Asian Volleyball Championship in its first edition after its superiority over our national team in the final of 3 runs against two games (25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 21-25 and 15-13), in the final meeting that brought them together at the Isa Bin Rashid Hall in Isa Sports City.
Since its inception, the match witnessed a great advantage in favor of the Qatari team, which succeeded in exploiting the many mistakes of our team in reception and attack, and managed to advance the result with a significant decline in the performance of Al -Ahmar, which almost lost the confrontation early.
In the third half, our team returned strongly to the match, and succeeded in progressing and earning point after another, after the coach made changes to the squad and involved the reserve players who succeeded in leading the red towards appearing at a strong and ideal level, and the Red plane managed to turn the table and draw it in the third and fourth half.
In the break, the relative preference was for the benefit of our team, which was initially advanced, but the ineffectiveness of the walls of the blocking and the success of Qatar in the attack was the most recent that led them to resolve the half with difficulty and crown the Western Asian title.
For his part, the Omani team won the bronze medal in the tournament, after its victory over Saudi Arabia with 3 runs for a run (25-19, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22).
Individual prizes were distributed to both our national team player Mahmoud Al -Afia, the best playmaker in the tournament, the national team player Mohamed Yaqoub, the best striker of 4 (second), the national team player, Hassan Al -Warqa, the best striker of 3 (second), the Qatar Nicola team player, the best strike 4 (first), the Qatar national team player Bilal Abu Nabbout, the best strike of 3 (first), the player of Amman, Ismail Al -Haidi, the best striker. Qatar Naji Mahmoud team is the best free player, while Qatar Renan Ribeiro’s team won the best “comprehensive” player in the tournament.
