Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski said on Friday that the Ukrainian forces are fighting violent fighting around the city of Boukerrovsk in the west of Donetsk County, a logistical center that declares Russia to control villages near it almost daily.

In his evening speech, Zellinski added that the Supreme Commander of the Ukrainian Army Olexander Serski told a meeting of senior officials that the situation on Bokrovsk is the focus of the current interest in the war.

“All operational trends have been covered, with a special focus on Bokrovsk. It is the most attention,” Zellinski said.

He added that the Ukrainian forces “continue their operations” in the border areas in the northern Sumi region, where Russian forces have been stationed in recent weeks.

In a separate report on the Telegram application, Serski described the city of Boucrovsk and 5 other sectors as among the most difficult operations theaters along the 1000 km front.

“The Russian Federation is paying the price dearly for his attempt to launch a summer attack,” Serski wrote.

The Russian air defense objected to 93 Ukrainian aircraft march during the night

For months, Russian forces have been trying to tighten the screws on Boukerrovsk, the Roads and Railways Center, which was evacuated almost all of its population before the war and was about 60,000 people.

In May, Serski confirmed that Kiev had succeeded in stabilizing the situation around the city, which also includes the only coal mine in Ukraine, which produces coke for the country’s steel industry.

On Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the control of two villages on both sides of Boucrovsk, which are Zerov in the west and Novoicon, east. Moscow announced a few days ago, “liberating” a third village near the city, Novotoritsk.

Ukrainian officials did not acknowledge their loss of control of these villages.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army stated in an evening report that two of them were Zerov and Novoicon, they were in areas where Russian forces were trying to penetrate the Ukrainian defenses.
