UNRWA Lazarini, Commissioner of the Palestinian Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), said on Monday that Israeli snipers are shooting randomly at waiting for aid in the Gaza Strip, “as if they had a murder license.”
Lazarini added in a post on the X platform, that doctors, nurses and humanitarian workers suffer from hunger in Gaza, noting that no one will escape this tragedy.
Lazarini stressed that the search for food in the Gaza Strip has become fatal, as is the case in the bombing, pointing out that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has become a “trap for death.”
The UNRWA Commissioner said that the distribution of humanitarian aid is not a task of “mercenaries” in Gaza, pointing to the workers with this institution.
In turn, the World Food Program announced, on Sunday, that a caravan of aid from 25 trucks was subjected to gunfire upon entering the northern Gaza Strip, which resulted in deaths and injuries.
The UN program said, in a statement, on the “X” platform, that the convoy faced, after entering the Zakim border crossing with Israel, “large crowds of civilians who were seeking aid before they were shot” from the Israeli tanks and snipers.
The program added that he is working with the “authorities” to collect more details about the accident, stressing that “any violence targeting civilians seeking humanitarian aid is completely unacceptable.”
The World Food Program called for the necessity of stopping fires near humanitarian caravans and the distribution of foodstuffs in Gaza, and also called on the program to protect civilians and humanitarian workers who provide life -saving assistance in the sector.
The program said: “We cannot continue to provide aid in Gaza unless all civilians and relief workers are protected,” calling on the international community to facilitate the delivery of food aid to the population who are starving in Gaza.
