The Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Al -Muslim referred to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee a proposal to a law on amending some provisions of Decree Law No. (48) of 2012 regarding the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The proposal comes to emphasize the principle of equality between all members of the Chamber in the voting system, and the proposal aims to allocate the number of four memberships to the category mentioned to institutions and companies that did not exceed 19.999 dinars, in order to give them a real representation in the Board of Directors.
The proposal consists of a law as well as its preamble of 4 articles, as the first article of it stipulates the imposition of amounts for registration for membership, annual subscription, and a fine of delay in paying it, according to the schedule accompanying this law, and where it came to determine the number of members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and allocate the number of four memberships in institutions and companies in Item No. 1 of the schedule mentioned in the law as the highest 4 votes, as the third article is amending the schedule of the number of The voices that each member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the proposal according to its capital came, and Article 4 came executive.
The proposal aims at the law submitted by MP Muhammad Al -Marafi, to work in the schedule for identifying the votes that each member of the room has in the polls stipulated in the proposal, because the amendment issued by Law No. 16 of 2020 came unjust to many small and medium -sized companies, and does not give them a real representation in the voting process in the room elections, which requires intervention and amending these percentages and restoring the situation as it was, as it is necessary Any voting system is subject to considerations, most notably the achievement of justice, transparency, non -discrimination on the basis of proportionality and participatory.
