In a surprising scene, the Cairo lens monitored 24 the moment a number of cars passed below the partially collapsed infantry bridge in Toukh, despite the announcement of the concerned authorities to transfer traffic away from the accident site.
The bridge was subjected to a partial collapse this morning, after a heavy transport vehicle loaded with a bonche collided with the body of the bridge, which led to a part of it in front of the Toukh Traffic area, without human injuries.
Despite the efforts of the executive authorities to secure the site and activate alternative paths to avoid the danger, a number of drivers of vehicles continued to pass through the remaining part of the bridge, which caused concern about the possibility of more accidents or injuries in the event of the collapse of the bridge completely.
Sources in the city of Toukh confirmed that UNASA and heavy equipment were called to lift the debris and enhance insurance procedures, while alerting drivers not to approach the vicinity of the bridge in order to preserve their safety, until the completion of the lifting and reform work.
The competent authorities continue their investigations into the incident, amid demands to tighten control over heavy transport vehicles and adhere to legal loads and high levels, in order to preserve the safety of citizens and vital installations.
