Negotiations continue on the Gaza truce in Qatar, where it entered its second week without progress, but an Israeli official revealed a “breakthrough” in these talks.
Channel 13 quoted a senior Israeli official in Qatar as saying that “Tel Aviv agreed to a broader withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and expressed flexibility to reach a new agreement.”
According to the channel, quoting Israeli officials, “the new withdrawal plan from the Gaza Strip, which was approved by Israel, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not want to end the war after the first 60 -day period.”
On Tuesday, Israel presented a third map of the deployment of its forces in the Gaza Strip throughout the proposed ceasefire period for 60 days, according to two sources of the Jerusalem Post.
The main points of disagreement between Israel and the Hamas movement are the withdrawal of the Israeli forces during the ceasefire, and the way to distribute aid inside the Gaza Strip.
The third Israeli proposal for the army’s deployment map shows a “larger flexibility” on the military site, along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, between Marri Morag and Philadelphia, according to the “Jerusalem Post”.
According to the new proposal, Israel will reduce its military presence to a two -kilometer -width area along the southern border near Rafah.
Reports indicated that Israel is “ready to withdraw more of its forces” during the 60 -day period.
Qatar, which leads mediation efforts, said that negotiations are still in the “first stage”, and that efforts are continuing between delegations in Doha.
“The negotiations are still in the first stage, specifically related to reaching an agreement on principles on negotiations that will start in the next stage,” the spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Al -Ansari, said during a press conference.
According to Al -Ansari, “efforts are still continuing and delegations here in Doha continue their meetings in a way that is always the case to coordinate with the brothers in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America.”
He continued, “We cannot say that the agreement will take place tomorrow and we cannot say that the negotiations will collapse tomorrow, this is something that is being suspended at the time.”
