The General Authority for the Red Sea Ports achieved the circulation of 470,000 tons of general goods in the authority’s ports during the month of June, where exports recorded a remarkable superiority in a quantity of 355 thousand tons, an increase of 257% from imports during the same period, which recorded 115 thousand tons.
The port of Safaga witnessed the circulation of 290 thousand tons of goods, of which 207 thousand tons of exports are 152% over imports, which amounted to 83 thousand tons.
While the Suez port recorded the trading of 27 thousand tons, at 26 thousand tons of exports and 1,000 tons.
The port of Nuweiba also witnessed the circulation of 61 thousand tons, with 43 thousand tons of exports and 18 thousand tons of imports.
Al -Zayatat port received 13 thousand tons of propelin and diesel, while the Hamrawin port witnessed the export of 79,000 tons of phosphate.
Red Sea Ports record trading 470,000 tons of goods during June
Major General Engineer Mohamed Abdel Rahim, Chairman of the Authority, confirmed that the increase in the energy of trading goods and the increase of exports was the result of reducing the time of customs release and the development work that the ports witnessed.
He pointed to the importance of serious partnerships between the state and the private sector in exploiting the current infrastructure for the development and maintenance of sidewalks and marine units, and the establishment of navigation lines that serve Egypt’s ambitions to establish a fleet that serves the state’s goals in export.
He added that the great efforts made by the state over the past years have resulted in the implementation of huge projects in various fields, all of which aim to develop exports and qualify the infrastructure in Egypt.
Abdel Rahim explained that improving the ports of the authority came as a result of development work and providing the necessary facilities for exports and imports in coordination with members of the port community.
He stressed that the increase in the movement of Egyptian exports enhances the competitiveness of ports at the global level, stressing the importance of linking seaports and dry ports and logistical areas through an integrated transport network of roads and railways, which contributes to facilitating the movement of goods and crops.
