The Ministry of Health and Population has warned of the seriousness of leprosy, stressing that it is an infectious disease that is transmitted from one person to another by exposure to the spray of an infected person who has not received treatment, noting that the microbe that causes the disease is known as “Basil leprosy”.
Lightness is prepared and affects the skin and nerves
The Ministry stated, in an awareness publication on its official page, that the disease affects the skin, peripheral nerves, the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory system, and the eye, in addition to the possibility of affecting other parts of the body.
The “Health” stressed the importance of early discovery and regular treatment to avoid complications, pointing out that treatment is available for free in its specialized dermatology in all governorates of the Republic.
She also appealed to the citizens to go to the nearest leather unit in the event of the appearance of unconditional skin spots or numbness of the limbs, and confirmed the availability of the support and information line through the hotline 105.
The Ministry of Health continues its awareness campaigns as part of its efforts to eliminate infectious diseases and achieve public health goals, in coordination with the relevant local and international authorities.
Earlier, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, urged a number of procedures to enhance the quality of health services provided to citizens, during a meeting held today, Saturday, with the leaders of the Ministry and the directors of the bodies, at the Ministry’s General Court in the administrative capital, with the participation of the ministry’s agents in all governorates through the technology of “video of a conversion”.
