The activities of the eighteenth session of the National Festival of the Egyptian Theater will start from July 20 to August 6, 2025, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, the Minister of Culture, chaired by the artist Mohamed Riyad.
The General Authority of Culture Palaces, headed by Major General Khaled Al -Laban, participates in the festival with 6 theatrical performances, namely: 30 Cinema of the National Theater Lake Band, written by Mahmoud Jamal Al -Hudaini, and directed by Mohamed Al -Haddad, and revolves around an Egyptian director who returns from America in the thirties of the last century to film the first speaking movie in one of the rural villages, but it clashes with a bitter reality.
Also, “sent to” by the Sinbillawain Palace, written by Taha Zaghloul, directed by Mohamed Faraj, discussed the concept of war and peace, and its events revolve in the atmosphere of the first and second world wars, highlighting the conflict between France and Germany, from the perspective of a French soldier, who retrieves his suffering and the reasons for the outbreak of the two wars.

It also participates in the presentation of “Street 19” by the Giza Cultural Center, written by Mahmoud Jamal Al -Hadidi, and directed by Amr Hassan, and its events revolve in a historical dramatic framework, and monitors the features of Egyptian life within a hundred years, starting in 1919 during the English occupation of Egypt, while monitoring the impact of political conditions on the social and economic aspects.
As for the fourth show, it is the “Black Hand” of the Port Said Theatrical Band “Start your dream”, written by Michel Mounir, and directed by Bishoy Imad, and its events revolve within an epic framework during the country’s English occupation period, to highlight the role of popular resistance, and to emphasize the idea of defending the land.
And the fifth show “The Curse of Zicar” by the Kafr El -Sheikh Theater Club band, written and directed by Ibrahim Al -Fiqi, and its events revolve inside a village whose ruler prohibits love, in the framework of a fantasy that carries human dimensions.
And the sixth show entitled “The first to see the sun”, a qualitative experience of the Rawd Al -Faraj Culture Palace, written by Mohamed Adel, directed by Ahmed Zaki, and his story is inspired by real events that took place in the city of Belgrade during the civil war in Yugoslavia, about a group hiding in a cellar for the arms industry without knowing the end of the war.
The offers, under the supervision of the writer Mohamed Nassef, Vice -President of the Authority, the Central Administration for Technical Affairs headed by the artist Ahmed Al -Shafi’i, and the production of the General Administration of theater, and these shows won the awards for the best performances at the theater regions festival, the theater club festival, and the qualitative experiments festival.
The festival session will be held this year under the slogan “The National Theater Festival in all of Egypt” and 35 theatrical shows participate in the official competition, in addition to three shows outside the competition, representing various artistic, cultural and independent institutions in Egypt.
