Dr. Rania Al -Mashat participated, Minister of Planning And economic development and international cooperation, at the farewell ceremony of Ambassador Gareth Bailey, the UK Ambassador in Cairo, organized by the Egyptian British Businessmen Association, on the occasion of the end of his work period in Egypt, with the participation of a large number of public figures and the Egyptian and British business community.

Dr. Rania Al -Mashat has valued the active role of Ambassador Gareth Bailey, since 2021 in pushing the Egyptian -British economic relations, strengthening partnerships with the private sector from the two countries through cooperation and fruitful partnership with the British Finance Corporation BII, and the bilateral partnership between the two governments.

She pointed to the successive developments in the level of Egyptian -British relations with regard to the efforts of development cooperation, as the United Kingdom supported the launch of the national platform for the “Noufi” program, as well as the launch of the “Hafiz” platform for financial and technical support for the private sector, in addition to the partnership diversifying innovative sources of financing for the governmental and private sectors, mechanisms for financing small and medium enterprises, and supporting startups in the field of climate work through the Climate Finance Program The executor in partnership with the government and the private sector.
The British ambassador expressed his great appreciation for the government and the Egyptian people and the hospitality he received during his work in Egypt, pointing to the great and historical relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Kingdom, whether at the level of the two governments, or the private sector from the two countries, pointing to the projects supported by the United Kingdom in Egypt, including the national platform of the “Noufi” program, which is a tool for mobilizing climate investments and enhancing the efforts of green transformation in Egypt.
The UK contributes to a grant in the energy axis of the “Nawvi” program and run by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as it participates in the food axis through the international partnership for integration with the platform efforts within the framework of the food axis, where the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt represented represented in the ministries of planning, economic development, international cooperation, agriculture and land reclamation, a memorandum of understanding in the field of food security, with the United Kingdom government, represented in the ministry. Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development of the United Kingdom, to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of food security.
The Egyptian -British relations are characterized by their diversity in many fields, as there are many British companies that invest in Egypt, and in 2020 the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and the British State for International Development issued a joint statement to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, within the activities of the British African Investment Summit.
