The Kingdom of Morocco announced today, Wednesday, officially, the reopening of its embassy in Damascus, based on the directives of Moroccan King Mohammed VI.
According to the Moroccan Maghreb News Agency, last Sunday, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Damascus was reopened, with instructions from King Mohammed VI.
The agency stated that the embassy resumed its work in its various administrative interests, with its full readiness and all its administrative crews.
King Mohammed VI announced, in the speech he addressed to the thirty -fourth summit of the League of Arab States, which was held on May 17 in Baghdad, the Kingdom’s decision to reopen its embassy in Damascus, which was closed in 2012, stressing that this decision “will contribute to opening broader horizons for historical bilateral relations between our two countries and our two brotherly peoples.”
The source stated that the Moroccan monarch renewed the confirmation of Morocco’s steadfast position on Syria, which came in its telegram to President Ahmed al -Shara, which is “supporting and supporting the father of the parents to achieve their aspirations for freedom, security and stability, and to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and its national sovereignty.”
The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al -Shaibani, expressed on the same day the thanks and gratitude of his country for the decision of King Mohammed VI to reopen the embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Damascus.
It is noteworthy that the reopening of the embassy took place at its previous headquarters, pending the completion of the administrative procedures and the preparation works necessary to transfer them to a new headquarters that responds to the new dynamism that the Moroccan -Syrian relations know, according to the Moroccan official news agency.
