On Tuesday, the American envoy Steve Whitkov glimpsed an agreement to a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Reuters quoted Witkeov as saying that he hoped to “reach an agreement on the ceasefire in Gaza at the end of this week.”
He added: “The contentious issues between Hamas and Israel have been reduced from 4 to one.”
He explained: “We are working to reduce the differences in Gaza negotiations and with time this is achieved.”
“We seek a permanent peace in Gaza and what we seek is to resolve the conflict in a real way.”
Witkev’s talk comes as US President Donald Trump announced that he will meet later on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The second meeting of its kind will be in less than 24 hours, after the first meeting that brought them together at the White House, on Monday evening.
Trump said on Tuesday: “It is (Netanyahu) to come here (the White House) later. We will discuss, Gaza almost exclusively. We have to solve this issue,” Trump said on Tuesday.
