The United Nations Population Office said today, Tuesday, that 50,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women in Gaza have not eaten for days, noting that the children of the Gaza Strip are threatening the risk of premature birth, death and exposure to life for life.
The Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanum Gebrisos, also stressed that the scarcity of food, fuel and medicines in the besieged sector is in particular the lives of the population and children.
This comes as Britain renewed its criticism of the mechanism for introducing aid to Gaza, which is supervised by what is known as the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”, as Foreign Minister David Lami considered it “absolutely unacceptable.”
He said, “People (in the sector) die while they are waiting for relief … There must be a role for the United Nations and its agencies if we want to solve the issue of aid.”
On the other hand, the International Committee of the Red Cross said that the “sharp increase” in the incidents associated with the distribution of aid in Gaza is causing a “collapsed health system” in the Strip, and exceeds its capabilities at all.
The committee said – in a statement – that its field hospital in southern Gaza has recorded 200 deaths since late May, the date of the start of the aid centers of the “Gaza Humanitarian Corporation”.
The committee said that the hospital treated more than 2,200 wounded, “most of them were caused by gunshots in more than 21 separate mass accidents.”
According to the international organization, “the size and repetition of these incidents have not been unprecedented,” and that the number of injured people who have been treated by the field hospital since late May, exceeds the number of injured people who treated them in all mass injuries throughout the previous year.
Clinic
In a separate context, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced the suspension of work in one of its medical clinics east of Gaza City, after several Israeli shells fell in the surrounding area, which posed a threat to the safety of medical crews and patients.
The association said – in a statement – “The work in the Association’s Medical Clinic in Gaza City has stopped, after the shells falling in the area surrounding the clinic, which threatens the safety of medical staff and patients.”
She explained that the clinic was providing its services to “thousands of patients, especially with the crowding of the region with the displaced from eastern Gaza, after the occupation issued orders to evacuate.”
She indicated that “thousands of citizens will have to walk long distances to obtain health care or receive children’s vaccination.”
It is noteworthy that Israel has been closed since last March 2, Gaza crossings, in front of the trucks of supplies and aid stacked on the border, and only allowed dozens of trucks to enter, while the Palestinians in Gaza need 500 trucks per day as a minimum.
Since October 7, 2023, with American support, Israel has launched a war of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders to the International Court of Justice to stop it.
The extermination left more than 194 thousand Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11 thousand missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced people, and the famine that has been tired of many children, including children.
