Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, visited, at dawn today, the Central Ramses building in central Cairo; This is to follow up the repercussions of the accident and the operations of controlling the fire, as well as the efforts made to restore the communication services that were affected by the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon inside the Central Telecom Company, and resulted in the affected by some telecommunications services during the past hours.
It was accompanied by the engineer/ Raafat Hindi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the development of technological infrastructure and digital transformation, engineer/ Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, and a number of leaders of both the National Communications Regulatory Authority and Telecom Egypt.
Dr. Amr Talaat had cut off his official visit abroad and returned to Cairo to follow up on the developments of the accident, determine the extent of the damage caused by him, see the technical measures taken to ensure the continued provision of communications services to citizens, reduce fire repercussions, as well as reassure the safety of the injured.
Dr. Amr Talaat said: “During 24 hours, all telecommunications services will be gradually returned.” He explained that all services were transferred to more than one central to work as an alternative network, and he denied that Egypt is dependent on the Central Ramses only as a major center for communications services, and he said: “There is only one Central that Egypt depends on and the Sindlel Ramses will remain outside the service for days. However, the services will return gradually after all the services have been transferred. That is found in Central Ramses to more than Central. ”
He added that most of the vital services work naturally in most governorates such as rescue, hospitable, ambulance, and the system of providing bread, airports, ports and vital facilities, and some services in a number of provinces limited, with breakdowns that were dealt with to be recovered during this morning.
Dr. Amr Talaat stressed that the situation is pursued first -hand; At the speed of the completion of the repair work and the restoration of the affected communication services at the fastest time, the inventory of the affected users and the taking of the necessary measures to compensate them.
Dr. Amr Talaat, the sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the fire victims from the deceased, and the Egyptian Telecommunications Company and its workers in the martyrs of duty who lost their lives while performing their work duties inside the Central Building.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology also thanked the Civil Protection Forces and firefighters for the intense efforts made over hours to put out the fire that broke out inside the building.
During its inspection of the Central Ramses building; Dr. Amr Talaat listened to an explanation from the engineer/ Mohamed Nasr about the circumstances of the accident; Where he explained that the fire broke out inside one of the floor halls designated for hosting communications operators, which includes separate halls for each operator, and the fire extended to other roles as a result of its intensity, and it has made it clear that all the halls of the Telecom Egypt agencies are secured by security measures and self -extinguishing systems; He pointed out that the strength and intensification of the fire prevented the firefighting devices from extinguishing the fire.
After that, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology visited a number of hospitals to which the injured were transferred, namely Al -Munira, Dar Al -Fouad, Sidnawi, and Coptic, to check on the health status of the injured and directed quickly to provide all the necessary support and care for them.
