Spanish press reports revealed a sudden development in the future of international defender Emeric Laporte, the Saudi Al -Nasr player, with Athletic Bilbao entered the negotiating line to return him to La Liga during the current summer transfer window.

Desire to return to Europe

Although he remains a season in his contract with Al -Nasr until the summer of 2026, Laporte is seriously considering ending his experience in the Roshen Professional League, and returning to Europe before the start of the new season. This desire comes as part of his endeavor to restore its European luster and reserve a seat with Spain in the 2026 World Cup.

Bilbao awaits the opportunity

According to the Spanish “Eldesmarque” network, the Athletic Bilbao club put Laporte in his defensive priorities during the summer Mercato, taking advantage of the player’s full knowledge of the club in which he grew up, and the psychological conditions he is going through with his desire to leave Saudi Arabia.

Bilbao intends to make an official offer in the coming days, in the hope of persuading the victory administration to abandon the player’s services before the end of the summer market, in a deal that may return to the Spanish competition.

The World Cup is an additional motivation

Returning to Europe is a top priority for the player, in light of the approaching World Cup date 2026, as Laport believes that playing in a strong league as “La Liga” will enhance his chances of being in the final list of the Spanish national team.

Numbers with victory

Laport joined the ranks of victory in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City, and participated in the 2024/2025 season in the Saudi League in 20 games, and managed to score 4 goals, providing a good offensive performance despite his defensive position.
