The Colombian navy announced on Wednesday that it was seized, for the first time in the history of the country, a “emitted submarine” dedicated to drug trafficking, noting that this compound is equipped with the “Starlink” antenna and is able to transport a ton and a half of the cocaine.

For decades, the drug gangs in Colombia, the world’s largest cocaine producer, have used submarines to smuggle this drug to the United States and Europe, but it is the first time that the authorities have announced seizing a distance from a distance that does not need those who lead them.

The Colombian navy said that the running submarine was not when it was seized on the Caribbean coast, in the waters near the northern city of Santa Marta, loaded with cocaine, so that this would be one of its experimental trips.

The commander of the Admiral Navy, Juan Ricardo Roso, said during a press conference that the submarine is occupied by “criminal networks” and equipped with a technology designed “to evade radar”.

He added that the seizure of this submarine shows the use of gangs “more sophisticated systems”, which constitutes a “increasing challenge to international maritime security.”

Pictures published by the Colombian naval showed a gray compound similar to a submarine, and the introduction of an artificial moon antenna.

A naval spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that the antenna is affiliated with Starlink, the company that supplies the Internet via satellite and owned by billionaire Elon Musk.

The Colombian navy announced in November that submarines filled with cocaine crossing the entire Pacific, from Colombia to up to Australia.
