Dr. Rania Al -Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, delivered the speech of Egypt at the round multilateral table entitled “Enhancing International Cooperation for Development”, on behalf of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister; During the activities of the fourth international conference for development financing in Spain, held from June 29 to July 3, 2025.
Dr. Rania Al -Mashat explained that the current time is witnessing a noticeable decline in progressing towards achieving the sustainable development goals, as a result of the escalation of geopolitical tensions and the multiplicity of current crises, which has consecutive negative effects, especially on developing countries, especially the least developed countries, which bear the greatest burden of global debt crisis, which causes the widening of the gap between the developed countries and countries Developing, and its increase in depth day by day.
Al -Mashat: We look forward to the exit of the conference with effective recommendations that pay the agenda of financing the sustainable development goals
She added that the Fourth International Development Finance Conference represents an important opportunity to confirm the existence of a real political will to deal with the situation, and to discuss effective proposals that enhance facilitated financing and support the current financing mechanisms, including private withdrawal rights, as well as developing new mechanisms to mobilize the required financing.
The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation pointed out that among these mechanisms, the debt tools associated with development come as an example of financial tools that can contribute to stimulating the financing related to the priorities of development, stressing the importance of the commitment of donor countries to their pledges towards developing countries, follow -up that the challenges faced by developing countries also affect many medium -in -income countries, which face the risk of undermining their achievements World debt conditions.
Al -Mashat stressed the need to focus on priority sectors, such as health and education sectors, in addition to making the necessary efforts to alleviate debt burdens, which can be achieved through the application of sustainable mechanisms that contribute to supporting developing countries in an integrated way.
At the end of her speech, she said that the conversation should not be limited to increasing the volume of financing, but also to focus on building the capabilities of countries, in order to be able to work effectively to achieve their national priorities, and implement their development strategies independently and sustainable, expressing their aspiration until the conference comes out with concrete recommendations that would cause a real positive impact in paying the 2030 sustainable development agenda forward.
