Heba Wasfi, a member of the Journalists Syndicate, sought help from associates, after being assaulted and described as “brutal” by a taxi driver in a street in Port Said Governorate, confirming that the incident occurred in front of her three children, and caused psychological and physical injuries to her and her children.

The journalist published a video documenting the moment of the attack, as the driver appeared beating her, trying to kidnap her handbag at the entrance to the residential tower in which she lives, while her children were screaming from the intensity of fear, in a scene that caused widespread discontent on social media.
Heba confirmed that the driver brutally assaulted her, which caused her hair to be tightened and injured in her face, and the stealing of a sum of 10,000 pounds, noting that her children suffered a state of panic and did not stop crying since the accident.
She explained that she had boarded the taxi with her children, and during the road the driver learned by talking to them that she was carrying an iPhone, iPad and a financial amount, so she asked her to increase the fare, and when she objected to his style, he insulted her and beaten her.
She added: “The length of the way, my children were saying this is the iPad, O Mama, we play with it, or this is your phone, we play with it, and they were talking about that they wanted to buy needs with the money that their door sold, and the drivers understood that they have expensive needs.”
And she continued: “I was consistent with him on 60 pounds, and when I went down, I told him with me 50 and 100, so the 100 was kidnapped from Eddie and Romani with 20 pounds, and the wage 80 said to me, and when I told him that this is not a style, and I could perform the 100 complete to him, but he spoke good, insulted me, and he went down from Arabic and struck me, and he entered and saw the door of the architecture and assaulted me inside the elevators, and all this is documented.”
She added, “My children, we were destroyed, hit us, and insulted us without what I do, and he was insisting that he tightened my bag and steals it, and indeed the wallet that contains about 10 thousand pounds, and all this is fixed to the cameras.”
Security authorities
The journalist called on the security and supervisory authorities to move quickly, examine the surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the incident, verify their statements, and take the necessary legal measures against the perpetrator, to ensure her right and be considered as a mother, citizen and journalist who was shocked by her children.
