Representative Ahmed Al -Salloum, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, confirmed that the Bahraini parliamentary experience represents a pioneering model at the region level, thanks to the comprehensive reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, who laid the foundations of popular participation and support for the rule of law and institutions.
On the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentary Work, which falls on the thirtieth of June, Salloum said that the Bahraini experience was characterized by flexibility and continuous modernization to keep pace with the variables, in addition to its distinction in the constructive partnership between the legislative and executive authorities, which was embodied in the great and permanent cooperation of the esteemed government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him, in a way that enhances the quality of legislation and achieves interests Supreme National.
He added that the parliament contributed during the successive legislative seasons in developing the economic and social legislative system, in a way that enhances the competitiveness of Bahrain and attracts investments and provides opportunities for citizens, which reflects the success of the parliamentary experience in achieving the goals of sustainable development, while preserving the authentic Bahraini identity and the values of society.
On the slogan chosen by the United Nations for the International Day of Parliamentary action for this year, which is “achieving gender equality: step by step”, Salloum affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has made tangible progress in empowering women politically, as the parliamentary elections witness an active participation of Bahraini women, which allowed them to reach the dome of Parliament and participate in decision -making, in line with the Kingdom’s directions in empowering women and enhancing their participation in the legislative fields And the supervision. Salloum said that women constitute 20% of members of the House of Representatives, and 25% of the Shura Council, and many leadership positions are assumed in the two chambers, which came as a culmination of many initiatives and programs launched by the Kingdom of Bahrain over the past two decades in order to empower women and ensure their integration in all institutions.
He pointed out that one of the most important elements of the success of the parliamentary experience in Bahrain is adhering to the principle of transparency and activating the regulatory tools, and expanding the base of popular participation in decision -making, stressing that the parliament is keen to develop its mechanisms of work, and benefit from modern technologies to enhance communication with citizens, in a way that contributes to achieving national goals.
At the conclusion of his statement, Al -Salloum stressed that the House of Representatives continues to work to develop legislation in support of economic growth, improve the business environment, and protect the rights of citizens, in integration with the esteemed government’s efforts, to move forward in achieving the economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and consolidating the foundations of the democratic experience whose pillars established the reform project of His Majesty the King.
