Today, Saturday, the Arab Parliament held its fifth (final) general session for the first session of the fourth legislative term, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the participation of His Excellency Representative Mamdouh Abbas Al -Saleh and His Excellency Deputy Dr. Hisham Ahmed Al -Ashairi, members of the Bahraini Parliament and the Arab Parliament, and in the presence of representatives of various Arab parliaments.
The session was opened with a speech to His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al -Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, during which he reviewed the results of the visit of the Arab Parliament delegation to the Rafah crossing, describing it as a “strong humanitarian and political message”, which reflected the size of the human tragedy in the Gaza Strip, and highlighted the pivotal role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt, in coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent, in the delivery of relief and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, calling for the international community to bear His responsibilities and immediate action to stop crimes and violations against the Palestinians.
The session included discussing the report of the Palestine Committee, where the two good and tribal deputies expressed their pride in the firm Bahraini position and support for the Palestinian issue, stressing that this position stems from the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, may God protect him, and continuous support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, may God protect him, may God protect him from the law The Palestinian, foremost of which is the establishment of his independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed the importance of the Bahraini approach supporting Arab issues in regional and international forums, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to the principles of international justice, and its keenness to unify the Arab ranks in the face of challenges.
The session also witnessed the legal oath of the new members, as well as the election of the First Vice President of the Arab Parliament, in the context of completing the institutional construction and enhancing the mechanisms of the parliament’s work, and His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Salib Al -Otaibi, member of the Shura Council in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was recommended to be the first deputy of the Arab Parliament.
During the session, the Arab Parliament discussed a number of important items, the most prominent of which is the proposal to establish the Arab Parliamentary Women Forum, and the proposal to establish the Arab Youth Parliament Forum, in the context of supporting the role of youth and women in Arab legislative work.
The presence of the good and tribal representatives comes as an affirmation of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to enhance joint Arab parliamentary work and activate parliamentary diplomacy in supporting the fateful issues of the Arab nation.
The session concluded with the approval of a number of draft decisions and recommendations submitted by the specialized committees, in preparation for submitting them to the concerned authorities, in order to enhance the march of solidarity and Arab integration in light of the current challenges.
