US President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas may be reached within a week, noting that the ongoing negotiations on the exchange of prisoners are going in a positive direction.

“We believe that we are very close to reaching an agreement in Gaza, adding that unhappy efforts were being made to a ceasefire that includes an agreement on the prisoners,” Trump told reporters from the White House.
The US President explained that the United States plays a major role in providing aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, saying: We provide a lot of money and food for that region. Look at the crowds of people who do not have food, they have nothing, and we are the ones who bring it to them.
He pointed out that some of these aid is being looted and sold on the market by bodies described as bad, adding: The American administration has developed a very good system to ensure that aid has reached its beneficiaries.
Trump’s comments come amid reports of extensive Egyptian and Qatari mediation aimed at ending the war for nearly two years in the Gaza Strip, which left thousands of martyrs and wounded, and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
