Brazilian clubs continued to impose their control on the 2025 Club World Cup competitions, while Argentine football scored one of their weakest participation in the history of the tournament, after early farewell to its two poles River Plate and Boca Juniors, in a scene that violated expectations.
Inter excludes River Plate
Inter Milan, Italy, managed to achieve a decisive victory over River Plate with two goals without a response, in the third round of Group VI competitions. The two goals of the meeting were scored by Francesco Esposetto in the 72nd minute and Alessandro Bastoni in the 93rd minute, while the meeting witnessed the expulsion of River players, Luka Martinez and Gonzalo Montel in the 66th and 95th minutes, respectively, which contributed to the loss of the Argentine team control of the decisive minutes.
With this victory, Inter Milan topped the group with 7 points, to decide his official qualification to the round of 16, where he will face the Brazilian Flumini, while River Plate’s balance was frozen at 4 points in third place, and he is bid farewell to the championship, as is his rival Boca Juniors, who in turn came out of the second group after his third place.
Monterrey sweeps and qualifies
For his part, the Mexican Monterrey made a strong offensive offer against the Japanese Urawa, and won it with a clean four. The goals came via Yildon Diosa (30), Germain Bertiram (34, 97), and Jesus Corona (38). Monterrey raised his score to 5 points, to ensure the second qualification card for the sixth group behind Inter, while Urawa remained without any point, depositing the championship with his third loss in succession.
Monterrey will face the German team Borussia Dortmund, the leader of the Fifth Group, in a strong confrontation in the final price competitions.
