The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association announced the start of the new version of the Premier League for the 2025-2026 season, confirming the adoption of a new system that takes into account the interest of the national teams and harmony with the world leagues agenda, after consulting the Football Association and the technical director of the national team Hossam Hassan.
Early start for the new season
The Nile League for the new season will start next August 8, after it was decided to present the start date for a whole week for the previous date (August 15), with the aim of providing an opportunity for the national team players to play 3 to 4 games with their clubs before joining the Pharaohs camp in September, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Derry with a two -stage system
It was decided that the league will be held with the participation of 21 teams, in a precedent that spoke for the first time, after the relegation was canceled last season. The season will be divided into two phases:
• The first stage: It is held in the league system from one role between all teams.
• The second stage: It is divided into two groups:
• Co -Group: The competing teams include the title and the centers qualifying for continental championships.
• The relegation group: includes the teams that struggle to stay in the Premier League.
The date of the closing of the league
The association confirmed that the season will end in May 2026, coinciding with the conclusion of the major European leagues, so that the association continues to implement its pledge to end the competition without postponement, as happened last season, which gives players and the national team an appropriate preparation period before the World Cup.
Support for the national team
The new league table is in line with the Football Association’s plan and the technical staff of the team, and the Pharaohs are granted a sufficient period of time to prepare for the world championship, in the framework of the association’s keenness to provide the best possible conditions for the national team during his career in the World Cup qualifiers 2026 and prepare for the finals.
