Youssef Al -Hamoud chairs the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the tenth annual meeting of the Asian Bank for Infrastructure

His Excellency Mr. Youssef Abdullah Al -Hamoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ghassan Sheikho, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the People’s Republic of China, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the tenth annual meeting of the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment, which was held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, under the title “Link for Development and Cooperation for prosperity”, and the annual meeting of His Excellency Mr. Lee Qiang, President of the State Council, opened The People’s China, with the participation of a number of ministers of finance, economy and investment, senior officials from the private sector and representatives of relevant international organizations.

During the meeting, the prominent role played by the Asian Bank in enhancing comprehensive and sustainable economic growth was emphasized, through setting strategies and investment plans for infrastructure, as well as strengthening financing partnerships and benefiting from financing opportunities aimed at meeting the needs of member states and facing various development challenges and achieving sustainable development goals, by adapting climate and geopolitical changes.

The Undersecretary for Financial Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s welcome to the election of Mrs. Zu Jiayi from the People’s Republic of China by the Council of Governor to take over the position of President of the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment, praising her ambitious vision to develop the bank and enhance its active contribution to developing development projects and infrastructure in member states.

On the sidelines of the annual meeting, the Undersecretary for Financial Affairs met with Mr. Constantine Limotovsky, CEO of Investment of the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment, and Mr. Jonjing Wang, CEO of the Center for Multilateral Cooperation to finance development. During the two meetings, ways to enhance joint cooperation were discussed and the scope of partnerships in the fields of infrastructure financing and investment, and a number of topics of common concern.

It is worth noting that the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment was established in 2015 and is considered a multilateral regional and international development in nature, where the Kingdom of Bahrain joined the bank in 2018, and it includes up to 110 countries, where the bank’s operational priorities include in the infrastructure, energy, transportation, communications, agricultural development, logistical services and urban development.
