A newly constructed metal wheat in the town of Al -Shatra, Iraqi Dhi Qar Governorate, in 2022, collapsed, causing thousands of tons of wheat to leak. The video of the accident was documented without any injuries.
Local media indicated that the collapse is caused by the loading of the silo with 32 thousand tons, despite its top capacity of 27 thousand tons.
Representative Amir Al -Mamouri criticized the quality of construction and corruption, pointing to the cost of silos (27 billion dinars) and the collapse of three silos so far.
The Ministry of Commerce formed an urgent investigation committee to investigate the incident within 72 hours, confirming that legal measures are taken against the negligent. The incident sparked widespread criticism on social media.
