On this day in 1945, the artist Ahmed Adawiya was born, one of the most prominent voices that changed the form of popular singing in Egypt, and re -defined it away from the traditional templates that prevailed in previous periods, and despite the criticisms directed at him in his beginnings, Adawiya remained one of the most influential and widespread artists in the popular conscience, with his unique voice and words that came out of the heart of the Egyptian street.

Adawiya began his career from the bottom, from singing in popular cafes and small parties, relying on his innate talent in money, and his ability to express the feelings of the simple, in a language close to people, he only possessed his voice, but this voice was sufficient to make an artistic revolution.
With the release of his famous song Al -Saha Al -Dahbo, he faced Adawiya a wave of the attack, and the song was considered “out of public taste by some critics, but the masses had another opinion that spread the song significantly, and the name of Ahmed Adawiya became on every tongue, and it was transformed from a café singer to a mass star that is not without any party or occasion.
Among the most prominent songs that are still present today: the daughter of the Sultan, the crowd, Dunya, a crowd, her safety, Umm Hassan, and other songs that conveyed the concerns of people and their dreams in a simple, honest, and direct way.
In the eighties, Adawiya was subjected to a tragic accident that almost ended his artistic life, but he was able to stand up, and keep his position in the hearts of his fans, he no longer sings as it was, but he remained strongly present in the conscience of the audience, and his name became synonymous with popular originality, and even turned into a school that inspired new generations of popular singing singers, including his son Muhammad Adawi.
