In coordination with the concerned authorities, the customs neighborhood of Alexandria, in coordination with the concerned authorities, implemented an enlarged campaign to remove encroachments on state property lands in the area of Qaitbay Marine Castle; Within the framework of the state’s efforts to recover its rights, and not to allow the continuation of any form of infringement or the exploitation of tourist and historical sites in activities that violate its nature, especially those devoted to marine business purposes.
Campaign to remove encroachments on archaeological sites
The campaign targeted the implementation of the removal and evacuation decisions issued against a number of violating cases, which included unlicensed activities, and existing projects without legal contract, or after the end of rental contracts and not renewing them, in violation of the controls regulating the use of those lands.
It was found that a number of violators have rented those sites and stores from the subcontractor to establish commercial activities that are not related to the original allocation, which represents an explicit violation of the law, and led to the loss of state rights in managing its assets, as well as distorting the main entrance to the Qaytbay tourist area with a set of random commercial activities and inappropriate for the nature of the historical site.
This comes within the framework of preserving the historical and tourism nature of the region, preventing any uses that offend the civilizational value of the Castle Castle, and ensuring a commitment to the assignment scheduled for the purposes of marine activities only.
The removal has been made in full coordination between the relevant executive bodies, to ensure their implementation in an organized and safe manner, and resulted in the removal of 13 cases of infringement and violation, legal measures were taken against them after notifying the violators in advance.
