A source familiar with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy revealed that about 9 billion pounds were provided during the first half of the year 2025, as a result of reducing fuel consumption with electricity production stations.
Fuel consumption declined
The source said in statements to Cairo 24, that the government is implementing an integrated plan aimed at reducing fuel consumption to the maximum degree, with the aim of reducing the financial burdens on the electricity sector, especially with the average cost of buying fuel about 24 billion pounds per month.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, was directed to continue work and adhere to the scheme of the project to support the unified network and increase its ability to absorb renewable energies of solar energy and wind energy, explaining that the Jeraza transformers station is working to provide electrical nutrition for the social housing area, the industrial zone and other areas.
In this context, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy confirmed that the Holding Company was directed to Egypt’s electricity to start implementing an urgent action plan to rationalize energy consumption according to the requirements of the current situation and take the necessary measures to implement a plan to rationalize electricity consumption in all facilities affiliated with the sector, pointing out that the rates of electricity consumption can decrease with the help of the citizen himself in this to reduce dependence on traditional fuel, noting that awareness of rationalization of consumption It is a shared responsibility for energy conservation and does not mean the inability to provide electricity.
The minister added: There is continuous coordination around the clock with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to secure electrical nutrition, and there are continuous efforts to enhance and operate new and renewable energy projects, including solar energy projects that aim to increase energy productivity from clean sources.
