The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, launched the second season of the summer school designated for people with determination under the title of discovered, in the various museums of antiquities of the Council, with the aim of raising the archaeological awareness of people with determination from all age groups through their participation in interactive and technical activities during the summer vacation.
Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Secretary -General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, stressed that the launch of this initiative comes within the framework of the assignments of Sharif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, to raise archaeological and tourism awareness, and improve the quality of the museum experience for all visitors, especially in the context of supporting the facilitated tourism that guarantees the availability of sites and services to all groups of society.
The summer school for people with determination
For his part, Moamen Othman, head of the museums sector, explained that the summer school will continue from mid -June to mid -September, and include interactive activities and technical workshops supervised by the museum education departments of people with concerns in various museums. The school also includes two main programs: the first is directed to children and visitors with determination, while the second focuses on preparing a volunteer team of students and graduates of specialized universities from social service institutes and special education colleges and other specialties, with the aim of enabling them to support visitors with determination and the elderly during visits and activities.
In this context, Dr. Heba Abdel Aziz, Director General of the Department of Special Needs in the Museums Sector, explained that this year’s program highlights the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence to serve people with determination, through simplified training workshops and custom applications, as well as organizing artistic workshops, traditional crafts, interactive theater, and human development and awareness lectures provided by specialists. In conclusion of the program, an art exhibition is scheduled to be held and a celebration to honor the participants and distribute certificates of appreciation, for technical products resulting from educational workshops.
