The head of the Al -Bustani Group for Fruits and Vegetables, businessman Reda Al -Bustani, said that the Iran -Israeli war was not reflected in the prices or abundance of vegetables and fruits, stressing the continued follow -up of developments in cooperation with merchants in the Emirates and the rest of the countries to ensure the continuity of supplies without problems.

He explained that most of Bahrain’s imports of vegetables and fruits currently arrive across the land from Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

Regarding imports coming from Iran, Al -Bustani said: “We import some of the quantities of fruits through the Emirates, but if Iran stops exporting its products, or its imports decrease, or their marine ports are disrupted, the demand for other countries will increase, and it is natural in this case that a rise in prices occurs, but this matter is nothing more than a possibility currently, the Iranian ports are still working, and the movement of ferries is running smoothly to them to them The UAE”.

As for the imports coming from India and Pakistan, Al -Bustani explained: “The situation is stable so far, as there have been no effects on the Strait of Hormuz, and we have a stored that is sufficient for two months at the present time.”

He added: “As part of our national duty and under the guidance of the government, we reassure everyone that vegetables and fruits will be available, and the current situation is reassuring, and we are all keen to provide stability and basic needs for all.”

In a related context, an official source in a company supplying food for stores revealed that unusual orders yesterday received food commodities, the most prominent of which was canned, pasta and flour.

He explained: “The large stores had received their usual orders for this month, but they returned and requested more foodstuffs due to the high demand and the end of the quantities offered to them.”
