In the current period, the region faces changing regional conditions, which requires raising the readiness of national security at various levels. In this context, the Kingdom of Bahrain adopted a proactive approach that combines security and civil readiness using modern technologies, promoting food security and the stability of the local market, ensuring health care and continuous environmental monitoring, as well as preserving civil peace and community cohesion. These efforts are based on recent official statements that confirm the keenness of officials to protect the security of the homeland and its stability through court plans and effective procedures.

The following is a review of these axes, supported by the statements of officials, about Bahrain’s preparations and initiatives to preserve national security, civil peace and national gains.

Security and civil readiness

Bahrain is keen to apply the highest standards of security and civil readiness to face crises and emergency. This includes the use of advanced technologies and early warning systems, and training national cadres to manage crisis efficiently. The Ministry of Interior inaugurated the “National Civil Protection Platform” in November 2023 with the aim of spreading a culture of safety, enhancing awareness of emergency procedures and training volunteers in the quick response.

In June 2025, the Minister of the Interior and the Chairman of the Civil Defense Council, Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, affirmed a pre -emptive approach to enhancing the readiness of the state agencies, pointing to the activation of the National Emergency Plan and the National Center for Civil Emergency Management to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and preparation to face any possible regional developments. The Minister of the Interior stressed that these preparations come in light of the follow -up of the developments of the regional situation, and that precautionary measures have been taken, including the convening of the Civil Defense Council and the National Emergency Management Committee to follow up the situation first -hand. The government also assured the citizens and residents that all concerned authorities continue to take all necessary measures to maintain security and stability and the continuity of basic services under any circumstance.

Food security and market stability

Bahrain has adopted strategic initiatives to ensure food security and market stability in front of any regional turmoil. At the forefront of these initiatives is the launch of the “Food City” project on an area of one million square meters as one of the largest food industries projects in the Kingdom. On June 5, 2025, Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa announced the launch of the strategy of the “Food” company and the launch of the city’s food project in cooperation between “property” and the company “Adamah”, in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership to enhance the ingredients of food security.

In a related context, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stressed the follow -up of the stability of the local market and the availability of basic commodities. On June 16, 2025, the Minister of Industry and Trade Abdullah Fakhro held a meeting with representatives of the food sector to discuss the smooth flow of goods and sustainability of the food stock. During the meeting, Minister Fakhro stressed the importance of integrated coordination with all concerned authorities to enhance the readiness of the local market and maintain the stability of prices, by implementing mechanisms and measures that support the elasticity of markets in the face of various developments, adding that food commodities are available in sufficient quantities, and are supplied to the markets in full smooth flow, and praising the awareness of society in dealing with developments. The minister called for drawing information from the official sources and not being drawn from any rumors, in order to preserve the regularity of purchases and the absence of an unjustified rush to the goods.

For their part, representatives of the commercial sector have confirmed the availability of all “basic and complete” goods in large quantities in the local markets, which reflects the efficiency of supply chains and the storage and distribution system in the Kingdom. These joint efforts between the government and the private sector resulted in the reassurance of citizens and residents that the food and strategic stocks are safe and cover the needs sufficiently, while continuing the movement of import and export without interruption in a way that ensures the stability of the provision of goods in the markets.

Health care and environmental monitoring

As part of the comprehensive alert plan, Bahrain has strengthened the readiness of the health sector to deal with any possible emergency and ensure the continuity of medical care in all circumstances. The Ministry of Health confirmed the high readiness of medical teams in all governorates and the availability of strategic drug stocks covering the needs for extended periods. Emergency plans have also been prepared to ensure that hospital services, medicine supply and medical equipment are continuing without interruption even in the worst scenarios. These preparations are integrated with other security and civil efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.

In terms of environmental monitoring, the Supreme Council of the Environment has paid special attention to monitoring any environmental threats resulting from regional developments, especially with regard to radiation and pollution. In a statement on June 22, the Supreme Council for the Environment confirmed that no abnormal radiological levels were registered in the atmosphere of Bahrain, reassuring that radiation levels are normal and environmental monitoring process continuing around the clock. This monitoring is carried out in coordination with the competent national authorities, including the Center for Emergency Management in the Cooperation Council states and the International Atomic Energy Agency, to monitor radiation indicators and their levels continuously.

The Supreme Council for the Environment stressed the importance of drawing information from official sources and avoiding circulation of rumors, stressing that it is closely following the environmental situation through monitoring stations scattered in various regions around the clock, and immediate updates will be issued if any developments occur. The readiness of environmental response teams has also been raised to deal quickly with any state of pollution or possible radiological risk in order to preserve public safety and health.

These efforts are parallel to other preventive measures that include ensuring water safety and providing a safe reserve stock for them, in addition to the readiness of emergency plans to ensure the continuity of electricity and communications services in various circumstances.
