Al -Azhar condemned in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist crime that targeted the St. Elias Church in the Al -Duwaida region, east of Damascus, which claimed the lives of dozens of innocent civilians and wounding others, at the hands of a “brutal terrorist” stripped of all feelings of humanity and mercy.

Al -Azhar announced to all that such brutal crimes contradict all contradictions of the purposes of heavenly religions and the teachings of human morals, which is a blatant attack on the right of human being in life, security and worship, as it fuel the fire of strife among the people of the same homeland.
Al -Azhar called on everyone to confront this black terrorism in all its forms, and made all efforts to stabilize the region and protect civilians and save them from the clutches of violence and abhorrent sectarianism.
In light of this painful circumstance, Al -Azhar directed the sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims, and confirms its standing by the brotherly Syrian people in its great affliction, calling on God Almighty to inspire everyone with patience and solace, and to expedite the healing of the wounded and the injured.
