The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that the state pumped investments worth 3.85 billion pounds to support the system of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in the field of scientific research, in the context of the government’s tendency towards building a knowledge -based economy and promoting national research capabilities.
Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the scientific research system
The ministry indicated that these investments included:
- 2.5 billion pounds to finance research projects, technological incubators, technology and entrepreneurship programs during the period from 2014 to 2024.
- 100 million pounds to support the Genz 2024 competition, which targets university students and institutes with their innovative ideas.
- 100 million pounds to finance the “Olympic Olympics” program to discover and care for the gifted.
- 110 million pounds to support artificial intelligence projects until December 2024.
- 40 million pounds to create technology incubators within the Science, Technology and Innovation Finance Authority.
- 1 billion pounds allocated to the presidential initiative “Alliance for Development”, to stimulate creativity and form research alliances that serve the sustainable development goals, and the competitive call for the initiative was launched in February 2025.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized that these investments reflect the state’s commitment to supporting young research cadres and providing an environment that stimulates innovation, in a way that contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and creating national solutions based on research and development.
