Russian President Vladimir Putin said that all parties should search for ways to end the fighting between Israel and Iran, and that Moscow has transferred its ideas on how to achieve peace to the powers concerned.
“I am in contact with Israel and President Donald Trump regarding the conflict with Iran,” Putin added.
He considered that the Israeli strikes “strengthening” popular support for the regime in Iran, adding that “Iranian society unites its political leadership.”
He continued, “It is correct to search for ways to stop the fighting, and to find ways to reach an agreement on Iran.”
He stressed that it is right “to ensure the security of Israel and Iran’s interests. We transferred our ideas to our partners and the decision must be taken by Iran and Israel first.”
He explained that Russia has “workers at the Bushehr Nuclear Energy Station, and we agreed with Israel to ensure their safety.”
He pointed out that “Russia and Iran will be able to continue working in the field of nuclear energy.”
According to Putin, “the strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran does not include military cooperation,” adding that his country “provided Iran with military equipment, and this is not linked to the current crisis, and does not constitute a violation of international laws.”
On Wednesday, Russia warned the United States against just thinking about providing direct military support to Israel in its operations against Iran, considering that this would destabilize the Middle East.
“We warn America against providing direct military assistance to Israel or even just thinking about it,” said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.
He indicated that any possible direct military assistance from America to Israel may radically destabilize the situation in the Middle East.
