Portuguese star Bernardo Silva settled his future with Manchester City, declaring clearly his continuation with the team during the new season 2025-2026, putting an end to the rumors that linked him to the departure this summer, led by Al Hilal Saudi Club’s interest in joining him in a major deal.
Renewal of loyalty to City
During his remarks from the American city of Philadelphia, where the City is located to confront the Moroccan Wydad at the opening of his participation in the Club World Cup, Silva (30 years) told the British newspaper Guardian:
“This season will definitely be with Manchester City. I will stay. I had options in the past and this year, but as happened last year, I chose to stay. ”
This season is the ninth of the Portuguese star in the City shirt, and the last in his current contract with the team, amid reports that indicated the possibility of his departure, especially in light of the attractive offers he received from major clubs outside Europe, led by Al Hilal Saudi.
A expected leadership role
For his part, coach Pep Guardiola alluded to the possibility of giving Silva an expanded leadership role within the team, to be one of the columns of the dressing room during the new season, given the great respect he enjoys from his teammates, and his long experiences inside the club since his move from Monaco in 2017.

Although he was confirmed this season, Silva did not settle his destination after the end of the contract, explaining: “I know what I will do later, but this is not the time to talk about it. Now my focus on providing my best with Manchester City this season, and I will talk in time. ”
