The International Atomic Energy Agency announced today, Tuesday, that it has new evidence confirming the exposure of the lower part of the Nunz nuclear reactor in Iran to directly damage.
The agency explained that it had monitored “additional factors indicating direct effects on uranium underground fertilization rooms” at the Natanz facility.
She stressed that the Israeli strikes had “direct effects” on the halls of the underground parcels at the Natanz facility.
As for the origins of Isfahan and Fordo, the nuclear in Iran, the International Atomic Energy Agency said that “there is no change to be announced”.
This is the first time that the United Nations Agency has been conducting an evaluation of the damage caused by Israeli attacks in the parts of the Natanz facility, which is underground, and is the main facility of Iran’s nuclear program.
The agency said: “Based on the continuous analysis of high -resolution satellite images collected after the attacks launched last Friday, the International Atomic Energy Agency has identified additional elements indicating direct effects on underground enrichment halls at the Natanz facility.”
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said yesterday, Monday, that the centrifuges in the Natanz facility may be destroyed as a result of Israeli attacks.
Grossi said, in a statement to the British Broadcasting Authority, that the devices “were likely to have severe damage, if they were not fully destroyed”, as a result of the power outages caused by the attack that took place on Friday.
During a special session of the Governor of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, on Monday, Grussia stated that the Nanz facility, which was severely affected, had not been destroyed since the first attacks. He pointed out that the underground section of Natanz was not affected directly, but the installed equipment there may also be damaged due to the power outage.
Grusi warned that radioactivity within the facility is dangerous, while radiation levels outside the target site are still normal.
He added that the upper part of the Natanz facility, where uranium is 60 percent, was destroyed in the attack on Friday, and four buildings were damaged on the Asfahan site, while no reports were reported on the underground Fordo facility.
Israel has confirmed that its attacks aim to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, while Tehran insists that its nuclear program is dedicated to purely civil purposes.
During his speech in Vienna, Grossi warned that the military escalation hinders “the fundamental action to reach a diplomatic solution that guarantees the long term that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon.”
