A source in the Suez Governorate said that drinking water will be pumped gradually at dawn today, to the cities of Al -Salam 1 and 2, after the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation raised the level of the Suez water canal, which is the main source of drinking water in the governorate, allowing desalination stations to withdraw and sweeten water and pump it to various areas of the governorate.
The source pointed out in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that Major General Tariq Hamid Al -Shazly, the governor of Suez, received a number of citizens’ appeals, especially in the cities of Al -Salam 1 and 2, due to the interruption of drinking water and its lack of access to homes.
The source added that the governor continued directly with the Minister of Irrigation to raise the level of the canal urgently, so that the water stations can withdraw and sweeten water and pump it efficiently.
He pointed out that during the past days, the governorate monitored multiple complaints from citizens about the weakness and interruption of drinking water in separate areas, and work is currently underway to solve this crisis in coordination with the Ministry of Irrigation, the Suez Canal Authority stations, and the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation.
