Professor Lulwa Saleh Al -Awadi, Secretary -General of the Supreme Council for Women, confirmed that the remarkable progress achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the gender gap report for the year 2025 issued by the World Economic Forum, is an international certificate on the leadership of the Kingdom’s model globally in the field of empowering women, and reflects the march of progress and empowerment of Bahraini women who have the royal care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the monarch of the country, may God protect him, may God protect him It reflects the sincere national efforts to enhance the status of Bahraini women supported by the Supreme Council for Women under the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the country’s great monarch, President of the Supreme Council for Women in the field of equal opportunities and balance between gender.
Professor Al -Awadi added that the Kingdom of Bahrain submitted 12 centers in the 2025 report compared to its center in the 2024 report to reach the center of 104 internationals out of 148 countries, confirming the continuing national efforts aimed at enhancing the principle of gender balance and integrating women’s needs in national development, within the framework of the prominent role played by women in the Kingdom of Bahrain through their qualitative contributions in the sectors within the comprehensive development process.
She praised the progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the general report of 2025 to reach (68.4%), after it was (66.6%) in the 2024 report, in addition to obtaining the second place in the Gulf and Arab in the 2025 report after the United Arab Emirates, noting that this achievement comes the fruit of the relevant qualitative initiatives and programs, especially the national model of gender balance, which is a pioneering model It enjoys international praise and attention, and all the continuous efforts that the Kingdom leads to enhance women’s position and ensure their active participation in all aspects of development, in line with Bahrain Vision 2030 and the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women 2025-2026.
The Secretary -General of the Supreme Council of Women stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain obtained the first place in the Gulf in the outcome of the axis of economic participation and opportunities from the general report, and in the outcome of bridging the gender gap of the estimated income index for women and men, as well as in the proportion of ministers in the government by 21.7%, in the general report of 2025, which highlights the great progress achieved by the Kingdom in these indicators by strengthening women’s participation in the labor market and ensuring equal opportunities in Wages and leadership positions, and reflects the keenness of the Supreme Council for Women to create and activate the foundations for the follow -up of the sustainability of the achievement of balance between the sexes through the development of the national model of gender balance to become an integrated system for the governing of gender balance applications at the national level, and confirms the role of the active council in measuring the progress made in integrating the needs of women in the institutions in the public and private sectors The civil society sector and enhance measures to reduce gaps.
She noted that the report praised the progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the outcome of the report, and stated that it is one of the countries that presented a high performance in the axis of economic participation and equal opportunities at the level of the Middle East and North Africa region, which enhances its role in achieving the sustainable development goals, especially the fifth goal related to gender equality, pointing to the keenness of the Supreme Council for Women who are firmly guided by the indicators of this report to learn about the development citizen and fields The improvement, the effectiveness and influence of the policies, plans and initiatives undertaken by the council, to continue to enhance the competitiveness, presence, progress of Bahraini women, and continuity of building on the achievements and gains achieved for them, reflecting the conviction of the international community to the success of the policies and strategies of the Kingdom of Bahrain in terms of women’s progress.
